Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to me.  Happy Birthday to me.  Happy Birthday dear me........

What?  What's that, Peepers?  What's that you're babblin' on about now?

What do you MEAN it's not my birthday?  What do you MEAN?

Oh yeah.  Never mind.  You happen to right, there, Peepers.  For once.  Today is not, in fact, my birthday.  My birthday happens to be this Tuesday.

MOUSES!

Happy Early Birthday, to me.  Happy Early Birthday, to me.  Happy Early Birthday dear me...

What?  What's that, Peepers?  What's that you're babblin' on about NOW?

What do you MEAN Tuesday is not my birthday?  What do you MEAN?

And more to the point, how would you even know?

MOUSES!

'CAUSE YOU DIDN'T KNOW ME when I was born, that's why.  You didn't know me when I was an eensy teensy weensy little kitty.  You didn't meet me 'til I was well and truly grown.  So even though you know the date of my Gotcha Day, when it comes to birthdays, you know nothin' but your own.

And maybe a few other peeps.

MOUSES!

BUT MY POINT IS, you have no idea when my actual birthday is, and for all you know, it could easily be this Tuesday.

Tuesday, July the 1st.

MOUSES!

And what's more...

Hmmm...

Nope, I got nothin' to add to that.

Wait a minute!  It just so happens, I do.

Fact is, Peepers, this Tuesday - Tuesday, July the 1st - is gonna be an absolutely huge birthday celebratory blast.  Yup, there are picnics and Q's - that's short for BBQs, in case ya didn't know - and parades, and all sorts of things planned.  Prince Edward is even in town!  Okay, so maybe not in my particular town, for reasons I simply cannot fathom but I'm thinkin' it has somethin' to do with a faulty GPS or somethin' like that, but um...  But anyway, my point is, Prince Edward is here in Canada for MY birthday blast.  Now, I can pass on the fireworks they're plannin', as I'm not too keen on those, but hey, if peeps wanna have fireworks to celebrate my birthday, who am I to scold 'em for interruptin' my late evenin' nap, and...

What?  What's that, Peepers?  What's that you're babblin' on about NOW?

What do you MEAN Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, is in Canada to celebrate CANADA'S birthday and not mine?

WHAT THE MOUSIE MOUSIN' MOUSES CAN YOU POSSIBLY MEAN?

Oh.

That.

Hmmm...

But I thought...

Oh, for mousin' out loud.  And there I was, thinkin' forty million or so Canadians were plannin' a big ol' birthday bash for little ol' me, Seville the Cat.

But then again....

But then again, maybe everyone is plannin' on celebratin' both!

EVER THINK ABOUT THAT?

And it's not like I'm incapable of sharin'.

Just as long as nobody is wantin' a share of my nip.

'Cept, of course, for Prince Edward.  Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, that is.  'CAUSE EVERYONE KNOWS, sharin' a nip mouse with a member of the Royal Family is a true honour, for sure

Note to self: don't slobber on any nip mice I plan on sharin' with Royals as that would be frowned upon, I believe.

Maybe.

Well...  Probably.

Yeah, I'm bettin' it would.

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day, everybody!  HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!

I know, I know...  I know what you're thinkin'.  You're thinkin', TOMORROW is actually Canada Day.  And do you know somethin', my friends?

Well, DO you?

Well actually, yeah, you do.  'CAUSE YOU WOULD BE RIGHT!  Canada Day is July 1st and not June 30th so yeah, Canada Day is tomorrow.

MOUSES!

But the thing is...

The thing is, as Canada Day falls on a Monday this year, makin' it a long weekend and all, THIS Canadian Kitty has been celebratin' all weekend long.  That's right, my friends, I've been celebratin' All. Weekend. Long.

MOUSES!

What?  What's that I hear?  Some of my non-Canadian pals are wonderin' what Canada Day is?

Well...

Well, Canada Day is the day every Canadian from coast to coast to coast celebrates me, Seville the Cat.  And they celebrate me with fireworks and parties and picnics and drinkin' and nippin' and...

What?  What's that, Peepers?  What's that you're babblin' on about now?

DON'T SAY IT.  I know, I could do without the fireworks.  I'm not quite sure why peeps celebrate me by settin' off those obnoxiously loud and scary ol' things, but...

What?  What's that, Peepers?  What's that you're babblin' on about NOW?

What do you mean Canada Day isn't a holiday celebratin' me?  What do you MEAN?

Well quite frankly, Peepers, I have no idea what you're talkin' about.  Every year on July 1st, in this house, we celebrate Canada Day, and the celebrations always seem to revolve around me.  Well, Saffy as well, of course, but I've been livin' here longer so they mainly revolve around me.  And as this is how things work in this house, it's a pretty safe assumption that EVERY house in the whole country, from coast to coast to coast, does exactly the same.  Besides, what else would they be doin?  What else?

They're celebratin' Canada, you say?

Hmmm....

But I'm a Canadian, Peepers.  I'm a Canadian kitty, for sure.  So THAT'S why they're celebratin' me, and...

They're all Canadians, too?

Hmmm...

Well...

Well I still think they're probably celebratin' me.

MOUSES!

And regardin' these celebrations.  I'm not askin' them to send prezzies or anythin' like that, although prezzies involvin' the nip or treats or other nice things would always be graciously accepted.  'CAUSE IF THERE'S ONE THING I AM, IT'S GRACIOUS, for sure.  But I would ask that they consider gettin' rid of those horrible fireworks.  THAT is one thing I should probably demand.

I mean, ask.

I mean, request very politely.

'CAUSE I'M TERRIBLY GRACIOUS, YOU SEE.

But other than that...

But other than that - stoppin' those horrible fireworks, I mean - I'm good with the status quo.  You know, settin' aside a day just to celebrate me.

Quietly.

Very, very quietly.

To let me enjoy a nice little nap.

BE QUIET!

I'm nappin', Peepers.  I'm nappin!

You know, you'd THINK a peep would have a little more consideration for a kitty on his very special day.  On Canada Day.  On the day set aside just to celebrate him.

MOUSES!

HAPPY CANADA DAY!

Canada Day weekend

I almost didn't get to blog today, my friends.

MOUSES!

I know, I know...  I know what you're thinkin'.  You're thinkin' I was probably havin' Internet problems and stuff.

Well...

Well I was.  And to be perfectly honest, I did almost give up.  But I kept perseverin' and I finally got on.

MOUSES!

I know, I know...  I know what you're thinkin'.  You're thinkin' if my almost not gettin' to blog today wasn't on account of my Internet issues, it was probably on account of my bein' hung over from imbibin' in the nip yesterday, celebratin' Canada Day.

Well...

Well that could be true.  Kinda.  I mean, I did imbibe in a lot of catnip yesterday, celebratin' the birthday of our great nation and all, but...

But...

BUT TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH, I STILL AM!

Imbibin', that is.

And I don't think the hangover bit starts 'til after you stop sniffin' the nip; and I'm plannin' on celebratin' Canada Day All. Weekend. Long.

MOUSES!

I know, I know...  I know what you're thinkin'.  You're thinkin' that if my almost not getttin' to blog today wasn't on account of my lousy Internet connection or a catnip hangover, you can't possibly be expected to think of any other reason, 'cept perhaps sheer laziness or somethin' like that.

Sheer laziness of PEEPERS, that is.

MOUSES!

Well...

Well Peepers can be a little sloth-like, for sure.

You should see the state of the lawn.

But Peepers' sloth-like qualities are NOT the reason for my almost not bloggin' today.  My reason does, however, have somethin' to do with the peep.

Are you ready?

You had better sit down.

So what happened is this: Early this mornin', I decided to give the ol' garden a tour.  With a sprig of catnip hangin' outta the corner of my mouth - I was chewin' on it, you see - I headed out back to check on Peepers' peppers and flowery stuff and garden type things.  Well!  Well I rounded the corner and the first thing I saw was the bed where she's growin' her tomatoes.

Now NORMALLY tomato plants wouldn't be of interest to me.  After all, I'm a cat and we cats don't like tomatoey things.  Fact.

But what I saw in that bed of tomatoes was astoundin', for sure.  I don't know what the mouses she's feedin' those plants but I swear they're all at least a good five feet tall.  They're TOWERIN' outta the ground.  LITERALLY!  They're so tall...

They're so tall I can barely see the tops of 'em.

Most of 'em are taller than Peepers, for sure!

And the thing is...

The thing is, this is only the second of July.  And they still have another three months to grow taller!

Now these mutant tomato plants belongin' to Peepers have me worried for two very good reasons.  Firstly, I have concerns 'bout those darned vines takin' over the whole garden and usin' up space better used for the growin' of nip.

And secondly...

Well secondly, I don't know 'bout you, but I'VE read the accounts of ol' Jack and that beanstalk and let me tell you somethin', my friends:  NO CAT, NO WHERE, HAS EVER WANTED A BIG OL' GIANT FALLIN' DOWN FROM A GIGANTIC TOMATO PLANT, THEN WANDERIN' AROUND IN HIS GARDEN, and POSSIBLY CRUSHIN' HIS CATNIP PLANTS THAT HE HAS BEEN GROWIN' WITH TENDER LOVIN' CARE.

So that, my friends, is why I almost didn't get to blog today.  I was out there starin' at those gigantic tomato plants and totally lost track of the time.  I was out there for goodness knows how long, plannin' and strategizing, figurin' out what I should do if I should happen to spot giant clodhopper feet usin' those tomato vines to climb down into MY garden.  And wonderin' if I should perhaps take a preventative axe to Peepers' plants right now, 'cause one can never be TOO CAREFUL when it comes to giants and things.

And I also had a bit of a nap.

Twenty-four plus hours of nippin' will do that, you see.

the big day

So tomorrow is the big day.

No, it's not my birthday, I'm afraid.

Although truth be told, MY BIRTHDAY would be a big day, for sure.  The biggest day EVER!  The most important day to celebrate in the history of the world!

Or at least in the history of Canada.

MOUSES!

And speakin' of Canada...

That's right, my friends, tomorrow is CANADA DAY!

MOUSES!

So we are havin' birthday celebrations and all that, but it's not MY birthday we'll be celebratin'.

On the other paw...

WHY THE MOUSES NOT?

HEY PEEPERS!  YOU THINK ANYONE WOULD OBJECT IF I, SEVILLE THE CAT, WERE TO COMMANDEER CANADA DAY AND TURN IT INTO A  DAY CELEBRATIN' ME?

'Cause quite frankly, a day celebratin' me sounds like the perfect day, for sure, and...

YOU THINK THEY WOULD MIND, PEEPERS?

REALLY?

WHY?

MOUSES!

Personally, I think a national holiday celebratin' Seville the Cat - that would be me - would be THE BEST national holiday anyone could hope to have.  We'd have niptinis along with salmon steaks drenched in nip sauce.  And some nice nippy ice cream for dessert, and...

Oohhh...  And for entertainment, cats across the country could gather, playin' with biff bags and nip mice and wand toys and...

Oohhh...  And peeps could set up giant chesterfields for scratchin', and...

OOHHH...  And on this day celebratin' Seville the Cat - once again, that would be me - every cat in the land gets first choice of all the prime spots in the house.  BY LAW.

In other words, peeps can sit on the floor.

OOHHH...  And if peeps don't like sittin' on the floor, they can go out the door!

Makin' sure they return in time to serve us our din-dins, of course.

AND AS FOR TREATS, THERE WILL BE AN UNLIMITED SUPPLY.

Now I ask you, does this not sound like a good way to celebrate the first of July?

AND I, bein' the cat bein' honoured on this wonderfully special day, DECREE THERE WILL BE NO FIREWORKS ALLOWED.

'Cause they're super scary, you know?

And...

And...

And...

HEY PEEPERS!  I'M OFFICIALLY CHANGIN' TOMORROW TO SEVILLE THE CAT DAY.

Okay?

Okay.

I'll start contactin' news outlets now.

Hmmm...  Better give a heads up to the Prime Minister, too.  This is the kind of stuff he really needs to know.

Plus, he might not have enough catnip and nip mice on paw.  He might need to go shoppin' on his way home.

MOUSES!

happy birthday

Happy Birthday to me.  Happy Birthday to me.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME....

What?  What's that, Peepers?  What's that you're babblin' on about now?

What do you mean it's not my birthday?  What do you MEAN?

Okay, so you do have a point there, Peepers.  Technically, I shouldn't be singin' this song 'til tomorrow on account of TOMORROW bein' Canada Day, and not today.  But the thing is, Peepers, tomorrow isn't a publishing day so I'm singin' it today, and...

What?  You're STILL babblin' on about somethin' and whatnot?  What on Earth are you babblin' on about NOW?

What do you mean tomorrow isn't MY birthday?  What do you MEAN?

So?

Oh for mousin' out loud, Peepers.  Do I have to spell it out for you?

Seriously.  Do I have to?

FINE.

So it's like this, Peepers:  Tomorrow is Canada Day.  Tomorrow is Canada's birthday.  And I, Seville the Cat, am Canadian.

MOUSES!

It's not the same thing, you say?

Hmmm...

Well I beg to differ.

MOUSES!

Peepers, I represent like....  Like ALL cats, Canadian.  You have any idea how many Canadian peeps out there would love to be me?

No seriously, DO you?  'Cause knowin' stats like that would be a big plus for my resume, and...

I do too have a resume.  I've just never let you see it, is all.  And do you know what it says on that resume?  Huh?  HUH?  Do you, Peepers?  Do you?

It says...  I, Seville the Cat, am a Canadian cat through and through.

What's more, it lists my date of birth as...

Okay, so it doesn't actually list my date of birth on account of my comin' to live with you when I was fully grown and stuff, but uh...

Ummm...

Well that's all the more reason for me to adopt Canada's birthday as my own.

MOUSES!

Plus, there'll be picnics and BBQs and cakes and things, and uh...  Parties!  There will definitely be tonnes of parties, and uh...

Well it's kinda nice knowin' that people from coast to coast to coast - all across this great nation of ours - will be celebrating MY BIRTHDAY tomorrow, all day long.

Will too.

WILL TOO.

WILL TOO.

Yes they will, Peepers.  Almost forty million people, give or take a few million, are gonna be celebrating tomorrow and THEY'RE ALL GONNA BE CELEBRATING ME.

Look, you believe what you wanna believe there, Peepers, but I know better.  For most Canadians, tomorrow is gonna be a celebration of one of Canada's most beloved cats.  For MOST Canadians, tomorrow is gonna be all about me.  Why the day isn't called Seville the Cat Day, I'll never know, but I'm bettin' it has somethin' to do with the difficulty of changing the name on everyone's calendars, or something silly like that.

MOUSES!

Oh, and Peepers?  When the birthday gifts start arriving tomorrow morning, you can put 'em in my office, okay?  Start at the back and stack 'em carefully.  Once you've run out of room in there, fill up the guest room.  I'm probably gonna be otherwise occupied taking calls and doin' interviews.  You know, things like that

And uh...

Gettin' nipped.

MOUSES!

HAPPY CANADA DAY EVERYBODY!

HAPPY CANADA DAY!

happy birthday!

Happy Birthday to me...

Happy Birthday to me...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY dear ME...

Happy Birthday...

To...

Ooooooooo...

M...

What?  What's that, Peepers?  What's that you're babblin' on about now?

It is so.

Yes it is.

Is too.

Okay, so maybe it isn't.

MOUSES!

But Peepers, as a Canadian Kitty, Canada Day SHOULD be about me.  If Canada is havin' a birthday, I, Seville the Cat - a kitty who is one hundred percent and TOTALLY Canadian - should be havin'...

It's not the same thing, you say, huh?

Awww...  MOUSES!

*sighs*

*sighs again but more LOUDLY*

Fine.

So Ms. Know-it-all-Peeperoni-Peepers, tell me this:  Is there a special birthday song for Canada on Canada Day?

The National Anthem?

Nah, that can't be right.  Peeps sing the Canadian National Anthem three hundred and sixty-five days of the year.  Three hundred and sixty-six, in years divisible by four.  The National Anthem can't be used as a birthday song, too.  I mean, no one can have a birthday every day of the year.  That's just about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Boy-oh-boy, Peepers.  You sure do come up with some doozies.

MOUSES!

No, The Birthday Song, it is.

Only, you know..,  The Birthday Song for Canada, instead of for me.

I guess.

MOUSES!

But all is not lost there, Peepers, 'cause you know what?

You don't?

Well let me tell you what's what.

Canada Day is a day for CELEBRATIN', for sure.  Canada's one hundred and fifty-first birthday is a day for celebratin' like...  LIKE A HUNDRED AND FIFTY-ONE TIMES!

And do you know what one has when one is celebratin'?

Cake, you say?

Huh.  Right.  Unless it's a tuna fish cake with nippy cream cheese frostin', I'm not interested.  Cake is not what I was thinkin' about there, Peepers.  No sirree.

I was thinkin' more along the lines of...

Fireworks?

MOST CERTAINLY NOT.  I, Seville the Cat, am not a fan of fireworks of any kind.  Fireworks are scary as all get out.  We cats have very sensitive ears, you see, and...

Picnics and BBQs?  And neighbourhood family gatherings?

What the mouses do you think I am, Peepers?  A DOG?

MOUSES!

No Peepers, for celebratin', we have...

THE NIP.

Yup, when celebratin', we have catnip, for sure.  That's right.  Canada is havin`a birthday, and there's no better way for a kitty to celebrate Canada's one hundred and fifty-first birthday than for a kitty to get out the catnip, and GET HIMSELF NIPPED.

MOUSES!

No, Peepers.  No.  No, you may not have any of my nip.  Go drink your lemonade.  Or whatever that stupid stuff is.

MOUSES!

hey Peepers!

Hey Peepers!  You wanna keep it down, out there? I'm tryin' to get some work done. I'm workin' on The Next Great Canadian Novel, and I need some peace and quiet, for sure. MOUSES!

What's that, Peepers? Why am I workin' on The Next Great Canadian Novel?  'Cause I'm a Canadian kitty, that's why.  Why do you think? MOUSES!

Sometimes I wonder 'bout my peeps.  Really and truly, I do.

Oh for mousin' out loud.

Peepers!  There's way too much noise goin' on outside.  What's with the ruckus?

Peepers!  PEEPERS!  Peepers?

Hmmm...  The peep does not appear to be out there.  Apparently, the ruckus bein' made is not her ruckus, after all.  MOUSES!

Hey Peepers!  You wanna tell those birds outside to keep it down?  I'm tryin' to get some work done in here, and they're makin' way too much noise and....

I don't know.  I have no idea.  Peepers, how am I supposed to know why they're squawkin' up a storm out there?  All I know is that they're squawking and their squawking is super loud.  I need you to tell 'em to shut up.  Would you mind doin' that for me?  Huh?  Could you do that now, please? Peepers?

Oh for mousin' out loud.

CROWS!  BLUE JAYS!  KNOCK IT OFF!  I'M WORKIN' IN HERE.  MOUSES!

There, that's better.  Now let's see...  Where was I?  Ah yes, page two.  Hmmm...

Hey Peepers!  You wanna tell those squirrels outside to keep it down?  I'm tryin' to get some work done in here and...

Never mind.  I'll do it myself.  MOUSES!

Oh Peepers...  PEEPERS...  PEEPERS!  You're needed outside.

No, that's not why I called you.  I already told the birds to be quiet.  I told the squirrels to, too, but when I was out there tellin' those squirrels to be quiet, I happened to notice Tess and she...

Peepers!  Are you listenin' to me, Peepers?  Tess.  Outside.  Squirrel.

What's that, Peepers?  You don't understand?  You have no idea what I'm talkin' about?  Typical. Typical peep, for sure.  MOUSES!

Peepers, I was tryin' to tell you that Tess is trottin' down the driveway with a live squirrel hangin' from her mouth.  Well at least she was trottin' down the driveway.  I have no idea where she is now.  For all I know, she might have already brought that squirrel into the house like Nissy used to do with chippies and...

That got her attention.  Wanna see a peep run?  Just tell 'em a cat is bringin' a live squirrel inside the house and...

What's that Peepers?  You can't find Tess?  You don't know where she is?  You need my help?

Let me tell you somethin', Peepers.  You need way more than MY help, and that is for sure.  And not just 'bout Tess and the squirrel, either.  You need help in so many ways, I can't even begin to...

Pardon me, Peepers?  You need my help right now?  You want me to stop babbling 'bout how much help you need and come outside right this instant and help you find Tess?  Really?  Really? REALLY?

Peepers, I'd love to help you out there.  Really and truly I would but...  But I'm a little busy at the mo.  Like I said, I'm workin' on THE NEXT GREAT CANADIAN NOVEL and I'd really like to get it done by Friday.  You know, on account of Friday bein' Canada Day and all and...

How far along am I, you ask?  Let me check.  Hmmm...

I'm on page three.

Peepers, how long do these great Canadian-type novels need to be?  You know anything about that sort of thing?

Really?  That long, huh?  Hmmm...

Awww...  MOUSES!

You know, I'm thinkin' I'd be a whole lot further into this novel of mine if the birds and the squirrels weren't makin' so much noise outside and...

PEEPERS!  Just had a Tess sighting.  She's back on the driveway.  The squirrel ran up the oak tree.  Thought you'd like to know.

Now...  Now back to my book.  I mean, novel.  Hmmm...  Page three...

Peepers, are you SURE these Great Canadian Novels need to be as long as that?  Are you SURE you've never heard of a Great Canadian Novel bein' about five pages long?  I think I can probably manage five pages by Friday.  Especially if I say MOUSES! a lot, and stuff.  And maybe if I use a larger print and...

Well my other option is to push back Canada Day but that would mean havin' everyone change their calendars and stuff.  Everyone from right across Canada.  From coast to coast to coast and...  I'm not sure I can get everyone to agree to that.

So Peepers, you honestly don't think five pages is long enough for The Next Great Canadian Novel?  Really? You're not just yankin' my chain?  Not that I ever wear a chain to yank but, you know...  You're serious about this, huh, Peepers?  Serious about five pages not bein' long enough?

Well what about six?  Would six pages be...

Six pages is too short, too?

Awww...  MOUSES!

                  HAPPY CANADA DAY EVERYBODY!
I hope you have a niptastic Canada Day, for sure.  MOUSES!

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day!

Sort of.

MOUSES!

My very first Canada Day on the job as Chief Blogger of the Family and I've already messed up. MOUSES!

Although technically, it was not I who messed up.  It was the peep and boy-oh-boy, did she ever make a mess of my blog. MOUSES!

I had this big adventure type of post planned for today.  It was big.  It was super big.

You see, my sister Mason...  Oops!  I had better not tell you about the actual adventure, just in case I can salvage something for a future post.

What I can tell you is the following...  PEEP #1 MESSED UP BIG TIME!  (No mouses required.)

Nissy used to always say he had the worst IT support on the planet and let me tell you, I had never really believed him until yesterday but now I know for a fact that what he claimed was absolutely true.

Perhaps I should start from the beginning...

The other day, something really exciting happened at my house and I wanted to tell you all about it so I wrote the most amazing blog post to let you all in on this exciting event.  Then I called out, "Oh Peepers...  I need a few pictures for my blog post .  You want to whip up a paw full for me?"  Well the peep got working on those pictures right away.  She did act quite promptly, I have to give her that.

But then the next thing I knew, there was fur flying all over the place.  Okay it wasn't exactly fur.  It was more like hair.  Peep hair.  She was practically yanking it out of her head in frustration.  And there were some words said, too, which I will not repeat here as Nerissa's Life is a family-friendly blog but let me put it this way...   THEY WERE A WHOLE LOT STRONGER THAN MOUSES. MOUSES!

I tried to console the peep.  May I get you some coffee?  Tea?  Cake?

Now an offer of cake usually puts a gleam in Peep #1's eye but ever since I ordered those cakes on-line and offered her some, the gleam has been a bit dull.  You see, the peep thought I was offering her Black Forest Cake or Lemon Chiffon or something like that but really, they were fishcakes.  What did she expect?  I'm a cat.  I'm not allowed chocolate and I don't like lemon so of course I was going to go the fishcake route.  MOUSES!

Anyway, the peep turned down the coffee, tea and fishcakes.  I think she was looking for something stronger.

Apparently, the site Peep #1 always used when doing up pictures for Nissy has changed a whole whack of stuff.  She can't Google images to be used as stickers anymore or maybe she can but doesn't know how.

You've got to understand something about my first peep.  When it comes to technology, she's barely hanging on by a thread.  Even the smallest of changes can turn her world upside down and that thread she's hanging onto will snap in an instant.  She just can't take it.  She can't adapt.

But back to those pictures.  Peep #1 got to thinking and thought she had figured it out.  If she went to a second site she sometimes used, she could grab a picture of what she needed, there.  She knew she'd have to cut out the image to turn it into a sticker once back on the first site.  And she knew she'd have to do that every single time she wanted to use it. Not the best of situations but she figured she had no choice.

So after grabbing the image, the peep went back to the first site and started my picture all over again but alas, that image she had grabbed to make into a sticker?  It had gone missing!  Peep says it's somewhere in the computer in some unknown file or something but I'm thinking it took one look at her pulling out her hair and ran away as fast as it could.  The peep looked really scary.

Once resigned to not being able to use the stickers she had wanted to use, the peep went back to work on my picture, starting from the beginning, once more.  She then started working on making a sticker of me.

FIVE TIMES she had to cut out that picture of me.  FIVE TIMES!!!  In her frazzled state, she kept making mistakes.  Even the fifth attempt wasn't great but at least it was something.  MOUSES!

Eventually she ended up with this stupid picture of me alongside two measly little stickers.  The edges of my beautiful marmalade fur are all hazy because the peep wasn't seeing clearly due to the state she was in.  I think she was shedding a few tears.

Basically, the picture sucks.  Sucks big time.  It's the suckiest picture I ever have seen. MOUSES!

So I told the peep to take a break and come back to the picture-making later because I still needed at least another three of them, you see, and I was hoping they wouldn't suck as badly as the first.  I went outside for a stroll with her where I raced across the front yard and climbed right up the big linden tree.  Then I allowed her to assist in my decent as climbing up is always less scary than climbing back down.  Don't worry, I didn't make the peep climb the tree or anything.  She just had to reach up and grab me once I found my way to a low branch.  Then we went inside to get back to work.

And that's when there was no Internet connection.  MOUSES!

About half an hour later, the Internet was back on-line, as was the peep.  She briefly attempted a second picture but again, it just wasn't working.  Finally, she gave up.  What a peep.

Okay I will admit that even I was feeling sorry for the peep at this point.  I've never seen such a pathetic, despondent, bedraggled looking peep in my life.  She was a mess.

Beginning to feel a little sorry for myself, too, I went into the kitchen to see if there were any of those fishcakes left.  Nothing.  MOUSES!

So here I am, moping about on Canada Day, late afternoon.  I have no special Canada Day post. No nice pictures.  No adventure.  Basically, I have nothing.  Nothing but a technologically challenged peep.

Staring longingly out my office window, I can see that the sun is shining and it's a beautiful summer day.  I should be spending the afternoon munching on grilled burgers and sipping iced nip tea. Getting tummy rubs and ear scritches, too.  I SHOULD be enjoying this wonderful Canada Day afternoon.

But instead, I'm spending Canada Day in my office, typing up a blog post to use as a less-than-perfect, fill-in post because I can't use the good adventure one I planned to use. This is not how I had intended on spending Canada Day. MOUSES!

I sure do hope you're all having a way better Canada Day than I.  And I sure do hope that next year, I'll do better.  Maybe by then the peep will have figured out how to make me some pictures. MOUSES!
