wake-up call

Hey Peepers!

PEEPERS!

PEEPERS!

Oh good, you're awake.

Finally.

MOUSES!

So anyway...

So anyway, Peepers, I just wanted to ask you to give me a wake-up call in 'bout an hour or so.  Maybe an hour and a half.  'Round 'bout seven o'clock should do.  You know, 'bout when the sun is comin' up.

Although technically...

Technically, seven o'clock is half an hour or so after the sun comes up these days.  But it's Sunday, and I really deserve the opportunity to sleep in.

So uh...  Seven?  You'll wake me at seven?  That all settled, there, ol' dearest peep of mine?

No need to answer.  I know you'll do the right thing.

'Cause if you don't, I might be tempted to upchuck a hairball in one of your shoes.

MOUSES!

What?  What's that, Peepers?  What's that you're mumblin' on about now?

Yeah, yeah...  Yeah, I know I usually say babblin'.  That's 'cause babbling is what you normally do.  But today your babbling is more like mumbling, you see.

Gosh darn it, I can barely understand a word you're tryin' to say.  No one ever teach you to enunciate, Peepers?  Did you never learn that at school?

E-NUN-CI-ATE.  It means...

Fine, you understand the meanin' of the word.

Not that anyone can tell.

Well you might try doin' so, then, once in a while.

Enunciate, I mean.

MOUSES!

But um...  What was it you wanted to ask?

Well that's a good question, there, Peepers.  A very good question, indeed.  Yes, I could have asked for that wake up call, last night.  I mean, last night, I could have asked you to wake me up this mornin' at seven.

BUT WHAT WOULD BE THE FUN OF THAT?

Besides, had I asked you last night, to wake me this mornin' at seven, you might have gone and forgotten.  This way...  By my askin' you at uh...  Now what time is it?  Oh yeah.  Okay, this way, by my askin' you at five twenty-three in the mornin', to wake me at seven, chances are you're less likely to forget.

I think.

Yeah, I think that's correct.

Now if you'll excuse me, Peepers, I really do need to get in a little shuteye.  Seven will be here before we know it and I really need to get some sleep.

'CAUSE I DON'T WANT TO DEVELOP DARK AND PUFFY CIRCLES UNDER MY EYES.

Like those under yours.

Seriously, Peepers, you really should try to get more sleep.

MOUSES!

Best stick to post-it notes, I think, Seville. Less hassle in the mornings for you.
