Fiona

How rude.

How very, VERY rude.

MOUSES!

I'm tellin' ya, there are some guests you really never want to invite back again.

Guests?  What am I talkin' about?  She wasn't a guest.  She was an unwanted visitor.  A trespasser.  An invader of sorts.  She was...

She was the most miserable son-of-a...  WEASEL, you ever did meet.

She was Fiona.

MOUSES!

Did you know that way back when, when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth and stuff, and Peepers' arrival was impendin'; Fiona made the shortlist for names?

Yup, it's true.  If Peepers was a girl - and it turned out she was - she was gonna be called Fiona, Erica, or Peepers.  I mean, Jennifer.  No, I mean Peepers, 'cause Peepers IS Her Name-O.

MOUSES!

But all that namin' of peeps business aside, I know what you're really wantin' to know.  You're wantin' to know if we're okay after the storm.

You know the one.  The one named Fiona.

Well that, and the state of my catnip, of course.

FYI, nip plants are all accounted for.

MOUSES!

We're fine, my friends.  We're fine!  We're absolutely fine.  All safe and sound, we are.

Now I will admit it was worrisome there for a while.  The wind was a-howlin', for sure.  It was blowin' and blowin' and blowin' and I was gettin' a little concerned it might blow our house right down.

But I wasn't really scared, or anythin' like that.  Big, strong mancat like me?  Pfft!  I scoff at hurricanes, I do.

Okay, so I was a little scared.  A tad, perhaps.  A soupçon, so to speak.

BUT I WASN'T REALLY SCARED.

MOUSES!

Saffy, on the other paw, was petrified.

MOUSES!

Saffron chose to spend a lot of time with the peeps, wantin' to be near 'em and stuff, while Fiona roared outside.  Like I said, HE WAS PETRIFIED.

MOUSES!

But here we are, a full day after the storm, and everythin' at my house is pretty much back to the norm.  We lost power for less than a day; and even the ol' Internet decided not to give me any grief.  There are some branches down in the yard but just small ones, I think.  Oh, and leaves.  Lots and lots of leaves.  But there are acorns, too, which will please Saffron to no end.  He likes to play acorn hockey, you see.

But other parts of the province did not fare nearly as well.  I'm super duper lucky, livin' where I live, but I'm pretty worried 'bout all the peeps and cats who live where Hurricane Fiona hit hard.  I'm purrin' they're all okay and have safe shelter, food, and a warm place to sleep at night.

And not just Nova Scotia, either!  All of Atlantic Canada was in that nasty hurricane's path.

The Red Cross is helpin' peeps who have been evacuated and stuff, and the military is comin' in to provide aid.  There will be meals to cook and roads to clear and power line poles to get standin' upright again.  It's probably all gonna take weeks and weeks and weeks!

My thoughts and prayers are with all those who have lost so much but as scary as it was and as sad as it is, things can be replaced; lives, cannot.  Keepin' everyone safe and sound, both two leggers and four, is the most important thing of all.

And the bottom line is...

The bottom line is, Fiona is a rotten houseguest.  If you hear tell of her impendin' arrival, act quickly and shut the **8%%@@$&& door.

Mousin'.  I meant to say, mousin' door, for if I am anythin', I am a gentlemanly GentleCat, for sure.

MOUSES!

MOUSES!

Remember to mask up, too.

  5. It is excellent news to know you are all okay. We cannot believe that another hurricane is already following Fiona. Our angel Fiona was so gentle and sweet, but that never can be said for hurricanes. Best to all. 7. That Fiona surely was a rotten and unwelcome visitor. Good riddance! We sure are glad you are all okay (including your nip plants, of course), but are definitely purring lots for the harder hit areas, too. XO
