knittin' with kittens

Want some help there, Peepers?

Hmmm...

Oh Peepers, you want some help?

HMMM...

You know, Peepers, it's not nice to ignore a kitty, ESPECIALLY when said kitty is offerin' his help.  MOUSES!

So...

SO YOU WANT SOME HELP THERE, OL' FIRST PEEP OF MINE?

What?  What's that look for?  Peepers, I don't think I like that look you're givin' me, at all.

Okay, well now you're just bein' rude.

I SAID, NOW YOU'RE JUST BEIN' RUDE.  It's not nice to laugh at a kitty, Peepers, ESPECIALLY when said kitty is offerin' his help.  MOUSES!

What do you MEAN my helpin' you with your knittin' isn't actually helpin'?

And if I'm not helpin', what am I doin'?

DON'T ANSWER THAT.

MOUSES!

Hey Peepers...  CATCH!

Well don't just sit there, Peepers.  Go fetch your ball of yarn.  I'll give you a hint.  It rolled under the pink chair over there.

OF COURSE my tossin' your ball of yarn is helpin' you with your knittin'.  Don't be so silly, Peepers.  Haven't you ever heard 'bout how peeps shouldn't sit about in one place for extended periods of time?  It's good for you to get up and stretch, now and then.  Get up and stretch while fetchin' that ol' ball of yarn.

Oh, don't give me that look, Peepers.  Deep down you KNOW I'm helpin' you out, for sure.  Now be a good peep and paw me over a couple of needles.  I'd like to try my paw at some actual knittin', too.

Okeydoke.  So uh...  So what are we knittin'?  Biff bags?  Nip hearts?  Some other kinda knitted nip toy?

You're knittin' a what?

A WHAT?

You're knittin' a cowl, you say?

Hmmm...

That anythin' like a chicken, Peepers?  You know...  Cowl... Fowl...

And where are you plannin' on puttin' the nip stuffin'?  Now if you were knittin' up a turkey...  Well turkeys get stuffed all the time, don't they?  But chickens?  Chickens, I'm not too sure about, so...

What do you MEAN a cowl has nothin' to do with chickens?

MOUSES!

Although truth be told, what you're knittin' really doesn't look like any kinda bird I've ever seen before.

And by the way, it doesn't taste like bird, either.

How do I know what it tastes like, you ask?

Well...

Oh, DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT.  You know perfectly well that I like to slobber over your yarn while you're knittin'.  I've done it before, and I'll do it again.  The fact that I just did it a few minutes ago should come as no surprise, at all.

MOUSES!

Just IGNORE the slobbery wet bits of yarn, Peepers, and keep on knittin'.

I'm tellin' ya, it's like havin' to spoon-feed a kitten.

MOUSES!

Okeydoke, so what are we knittin' again?  Some kinda non-chicken, non-fowl cowl?

Yeah, 'cause who wouldn't want one of those?

WAIT A MINUTE.

Those cowl things.  Those are the things peeps wear 'round their necks in the winter.  Peeps wear 'em to keep warm and toasty when goin' out in the snow.

You know, instead of wearin' a collar.

Hmmm...

So Peepers, for whom are you knittin' this cowl?

You are?

YOU ARE?

You're knittin' the cowl for me?

MOUSES!

WAIT A MINUTE.

Wait a mousie mousin' mouses minute.  I'm a cat.  Cats don't wear cowls.  Why, this here particular cat doesn't even wear a collar!

You're what?

You're knittin' the cowl for me to give away to one of my readers?

Well that's mighty nice of you there, Peepers.  Kinda like a Christmas gift, huh?

But...

But Peepers, I have more than one follower on my blog.  More than one pal reads it.  You can't give one cowl to one of 'em, and absolutely nothin' to all the others.  You're gonna have to start knittin' a bit faster there, Peepers.  A whole lot faster, for sure.  I mean, you're gonna have to knit dozens of those cowls.  Maybe even hundreds.  Maybe even...

YOU'RE WHAT?

You're givin' the pattern for the cowl away, too?  And EVERYONE can have the pattern?  Everyone who wants it can download it for free?  As a special gift to ALL of my readers, just from me?

Peepers, what can I say?  You've really outdone yourself this time.  Why...  Why...  WHY...

WHY I'M SPEECHLESS, for sure.

And you know that doesn't happen too often.

MOUSES!

  6. Your momma is talented, Seville! Is she planning to make you one of those cowls, too. I think red would be purr-fect with your ginger coat. My mom doesn't know how to knit, but she does love to do crafts. Tee hee hee. Hugs!

  11. Don't worry, Seville, it's probably a lady cat thing, but I'd quite like a cowl in black and white with matching muff. They will be all the rage and I could make it into the best dressed cats pages of Society Cat Magazine™
Toodle pip and keep them peeps fit!

  14. What a cool giveaway! Your Peepers certainly did a beautiful job knitting that cowl scarf thingie - it's GORGEOUS and my Mom is so jealous she can knit so well. My Mom tried knitting many years ago and wound up making a 15 foot "nothing". That's the extent of her knitting talent!

    Hugs, Teddy
