Whew. That was close. That was a close call, for sure. MOUSES!
I don't know if you knew 'bout this or not, but yesterday was National Hug Your Cat Day and let me tell you, my friends, I barely made it out alive. MOUSES!
At my house, there's just way too much hugging going around on any day, never mind one actually called, National Hug Your Cat Day.
Those peeps of mine? They can't keep their paws off us! Peep #1 is the worst, for sure. Again I must say, MOUSES!
That first peep is constantly picking us up and kissing the tops of our heads and hugging us and whatnot. I swear I've been hugged in every room in the house save for, perhaps, the bathroom...
No... No... No. I've been hugged there, too. Why, just the other day I hopped onto the vanity to check out if someone might have left something up there for me to knock down and what happened? I'll tell you what happened. Even though there were plenty of things to biff off the counter top, I NEVER got the chance. That's right. Never got the chance at all and why? Well I'll tell you why. Because before I knew it, that ol' peep of mine, scooped me up into her arms, and what did she do?
SHE HUGGED ME. MOUSES!
I'm tellin' you, it's like she has some kind of condition or something. Like an addiction. Like she's addicted to huggin' us cats. MOUSES!
My bet is that right about now, you're probably thinkin' to yourself, Seville sure is usin' the word MOUSES! a lot today and if that actually is what you're thinkin', you'd be right about that, for sure. If you were gettin' hugged once, twice, three or four times a day, you'd be usin' the word MOUSES! a lot, too. Yup, I can practically guarantee it, for sure.
I'm sorry, did I say, a day? Meant to say, an hour. My mistake.
Now that's not to say she hugs me three or four times an hour, every hour. No, sometimes she's asleep. Yeah, the woman is in dire need of her beauty sleep, for sure, and let me tell you... THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT!
And, of course, sometimes she's not hugging me, personally. Sometimes she's hugging the other kitties living in this here house. I get a bit of a reprieve when she's off hugging others but sadly for them, they do not. MOUSES!
So anyway, last week, when I heard 'bout this National Hug Your Cat Day coming up, I thought to myself...
Actually, I pretty near fainted.
But after hauling myself back up off the ground, I thought to myself...
If Peep #1 goes around hugging us cats left, right and centre on normal days, what would she do on a day set aside especially for hugging? MOUSES!
It would be like the calendar was givin' her special permission to hug us all to death.
So first things first, I ripped the page for June right off the wall. So far, so good, as the peep hasn't noticed. Of course, she's going around thinkin' that today is Sunday July 3rd and wondering where-oh-where the month of June went and saying things like, "Doesn't time fly when you're having fun?" but I think if I ignore her for long enough, she'll stop asking such stupid questions. MOUSES!
But after I took care of business...
No, not that kind of business. MOUSES!
What I meant was, after I ripped the page for the month of June from the calendar, I took a moment to take some really deep breaths. The kind of deep breaths you can't possibly take while in the middle of hugging. Then I asked myself, if peeps get a National Hug Your Cat Day, what do WE CATS get?
I mean, we cats don't go around showing our affection by hugging our peeps.
Well Andy does but Andy is Andy and there's no explaining anything that brother of mine might do. MOUSES!
Personally, I prefer to show my affection by spraying a peep every now and then. You know, to mark 'em as mine although truth be told, just the other day, I was honestly wondering if I could return mine. Well technically, I wanted to do a trade-in for a new and improved model, but couldn't find any cats willin' to make an exchange. MOUSES!
Now if I'm being totally honest, my sprayin' doesn't usually go over all that well. But if I have to put up with all that huggin', they can put up with an occasional sprayin', for sure. MOUSES!
And it's not like I do it every day. Only once in a while. Once in a blue moon.
Okay, maybe more than once in a blue moon 'cause let me tell you, those blue moons are hard to come by and when it's overcast overnight, they can come and go without a kitty ever knowin', especially if you happen to be missin' pages from the calendar 'cause you had to rip 'em off the wall and... Well that's a missed opportunity, for sure. MOUSES!
So anyway, I'm thinkin' that if peeps get a National Hug Your Cat Day, we cats should get a National Spray Your Peep Day. It's only fair. Don't you think? MOUSES!
Lady would have hugged you too. She was really sad not to have a cat to hug.
ReplyDeleteI could loan her my brother Anderson. purrs
DeleteWell, I'm not sure about spraying my peeps. I have never tried it but I have the feeling it wouldn't go down too well. She complains enough about me spraying one of the azaleas and says I have made the leaves go brown.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about all this hugging though. When Eric left I got his share of the hugs as well as my own, then when I got ill I got double the amount of hugs. Seems like my life is one long hug.
Oh believe me, it never does. Never does go down well, I mean. But I just ignore the complaints and do what must be done. MOUSES!
DeleteHehe, the year will go pretty quick if you keep taking months off the calendar. In fact, if you take a few more off, your peep will be able to knit you more biff bags for Christmas! Purrs from Erin and her peep (soon to be disowned) who forgot to hug me, even once that day!
ReplyDeleteNO! Not even ONE hug? What was he thinking??? Oh, right. A peep. No thinking required. My Momma's not good at much - actually she's spectacularly incompetent - but she gives good hugs. If you ever find yourself hugless again, I'm sure she'd quickly rectify the situation. The food and the service here sucks - but she does have that ONE redeeming quality. ~Bear Cat
DeleteOohhh.... Erin, now THAT'S a thought, for sure! purrs
DeleteBC, what you need is some nip! purrs
DeleteI love my Momma's hugs. Not in public obviously, but I like feeling protected and secure - and where do you feel that more than when you're wrapped up in a human's arms? When I was homeless I was on my own so it's nice to know I don't have to worry about those things anymore. But hugs might not be your cup of tea. There are an endless number of ways to show others how we feel about them - like spraying. It's pretty cool when you find someone who expresses love in the same way; otherwise you have a spraying cat that always gets hugged instead. Though I guess you might feel differently if Peep sprayed you back. Ew. Now kisses? NO WAY! ABSOLUTELY NO KISSES! My Momma also does this strange thing where she sniffs my fur. CREEPY! She says it relaxes her and takes her to her happy place but what cat wants to be attacked by a nose? These humans and their strange habits! An example? People give each other flowers to show love. We barf up hairballs on what we love. I don't think they'll ever change. ~Bear Cat
ReplyDeleteOh, the public hugs are the worst! Once, Peep #1 hugged me in front of Nosy-Neighbour-Cat. RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM! Took ages to live that one down. MOUSES!
DeleteHugging is one of the worst things in a cats life. It messes up the fur and if you are having bad luck and you are favorite cat of the day, they mess you most up.
ReplyDeleteSo I always escape and let the others suffer in the house.
Pursk
I know! They mess up your fur with their hugs and then the next thing is, they wanna comb you! MOUSES!
DeleteOh we so agree with you. WE do NOT allow hugs around here. We don't even like to be picked up, much less hugged. It isn't going to happen here. So don't feel bad.
ReplyDeleteDo you mind if I show my peeps your comment? I want them to know that if I don't wanna be hugged, it's okay. purrs
DeleteGlad ya survived Hug Your Cat Day, MOL!
ReplyDeleteIt was touch and go but thankfully, I made it. Whew. purrs
DeleteAt my house we get hugged all the time. Don't need a special date on calendar to do it. In fact...I'm the one doing the hugging cuz I've noticed that if I hug my mom on purrrpose... I get extra attention. I love attention. I'm an attention addict, I guess. Um... You actually mark your Peeps? I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteBut do you get extra treats, too? purrs
DeleteYup. I'm kinda skinny so my Mom is always trying to fatten me up. I just have to sneak my treats cuz my arch nemesis - brofur Opie is a chunky butt and he sure doesn't need any more calories.
DeleteChunky butt... hahahahaha... snort! I'm gonna call Andy that, for sure. LOVE IT! purrs
DeleteNow Seville, I usually take your side, but not this time. Can't you cats put up with a little hug from your peeps in exchange for all the yummy food you get from us all the time?
ReplyDeleteUmmm... NO. purrs
DeleteYou know, 'cause we're cats. purrs
DeleteOh Seville! The horrors of it all!!! Mes used to hates being hugged!!! Mes could not even stand the peeps petting mes! Mes would scratch and bite!
ReplyDeleteIf mes had been blogging back then...mes would not ever have celebrated Hug Your Cat Day!!!
But now, mes turned into a cuddle bum! Yes, shortly after my 10th (or was it the 11th...) mes started to like being hugged...and NOW mes wants to be hugged and cuddled.
Purrhaps yous might feel more like it when yous is as old as me!
Kisses
Nellie
You turned into a cuddle bum? That can happen? MOUSES!
DeleteSivvers, truth be told, we kind of like getting hugged by our peeps. Just saying. Headbonks - Gracie and Zoe
ReplyDeleteYou do? Really? MOUSES! purrs
DeleteDon't worry Seville, I bet my cats were saying MOUSES right there with you!
ReplyDeleteYay!!! The more times MOUSES! is said, the better! I was always a goal of Nissy's for MOUSES! to be used worldwide, you see. purrs
DeleteIf Binga doesn't want to be hugged, she bites. It's a pretty direct approach!
ReplyDeleteThat IS a direct approach. Gets the point across, for sure. purrs
DeleteHmm....hugging is one thing but spraying is another and I somehow think my Peep would be unhappy with the spray! However, I did allow myself to be hugged since it WAS Hug Day...I felt like being cooperative for a change!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sammy
Oh believe-you-me, the sprayin' doesn't go over very well here, either. Doesn't stop me though! But I only do it every now and then. purrs
DeleteThe only one here who sprays around here is Da Beebs, and it does NOT go down well at all. Genji on the other hand, is permanently looking for hugs and cuddles...
ReplyDeletePurrs,
The Chans
Please pass along to Da Beebs... Never spray a peep right after said peep has had a shower. For some strange reason they don't like that. MOUSES!
DeleteThat was a wee bit scary but a hug can sometimes end nicely!
ReplyDeleteSometimes, I suppose... Maybe... Hmmm... PURRS.
DeleteYou peeps actually hugged you in the bathroom!! Now that is definitely out of order!
ReplyDeleteI know! Tell me about it!!! purrs
DeleteAaaaaaw Seville me luvs da huggin and cuddlin', and fankfully mommy doesn't need a day on da calendar to tell her to do it a lot. MOL Glad ya'll survived.
ReplyDeleteLuv ya'
Dezi
You mean... YOU GET HUGGED DAILY? MOUSES!
Delete*Gulp* Sivvers, is it true? is it possible? Truly? A National Spray Your Peep Day??? PAWSOME!!! PAWTAY!! That's almost as much fun as our #WLF "widdle" events
ReplyDeleteWell I'm workin' on it, for sure! purrs
DeleteAt least our humans were gone most of the day so we didn't have to endure that huggy crap. Our mommy always gets so excited when she hears about another cat spraying. It makes her feel so not alone in the world. We have two sprayers, Mauricio and Astrid. Yuck. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteGlad to help you mum out with that. Be sure to tell her, it's just our way of showin' love. purrs
