adventures with the peep

I had to think long and hard about writin' today's blog post.  I had to think long and hard about whether or not the world was ready for another 'adventures with the peep at the grocery store' kind of post.  I just wasn't sure.

So I did what any self-respectin' cat would do.  I took a nap.

Feelin' refreshed after my little catnap, I realised, of course it is!  Of course the world is ready for another post like this. Stuff happens.  Stuff happens at grocery stores.  Peeps are gonna wanna read 'bout that stuff, for sure.

Anywho...  Peep #1 went out shoppin' for cat food, yesterday.  She had to.  Our cupboards were bare.  Not a tin could be found.  We were gonna starve if the peep didn't find us some food.  We were in dire need of some tins of our very favourite kind.  Oh sure, there were other varieties of cat food in the house but all ten of us cats like the turkey that comes with the giblets, the best.  In fact, it's the only variety we'll all eat on a regular basis.  We've just gotta have it...  OR ELSE.

Truth be told, Peep #1 was out shoppin' for us several times last week.  On the lookout for our favourite food, she was.  Unfortunately, none could be found.

And yesterday wasn't all that different from last week.  Peep #1 went to first grocery store.  Nope. Not a single tin of my favourite cat food could be seen.  Peep #2 went to the second grocery store. Nada.  Not a single tin of my favourite cat food there, either.

MOUSES!  What was a peep to do?  She couldn't come home empty-pawed.  She wasn't ready to face us without a few bags of tins of somethin' edible.  Hmmm...

That's when Peep #1 headed on over to the outdoor livin' / hardware / automotive parts store.

JACKPOT!

That's right, my friends.  At the outdoor livin' / hardware / automotive parts store, my first peep hit the mother load of tins of gibletized turkey.  IT WAS GLORIOUS.  Yes, that's just what she said.  Okay, maybe she didn't say that.  Perhaps it was I who added the glorious bit but had my peep thought of it at the time, I'm sure she would have said it, too.  She just didn't think of it, you see.  She's not good with words, like me.

At the outdoor livin' / hardware / automotive parts store, there were a lot of tins of gibletized turkey.  Peep #1 managed to get a whole two dozen of 'em.  She could have bought more but the rest were on the bottom shelf.  Ol' Peepers took the tins that were near the front but the rest were way, way, way at the back on that bottom shelf and she wasn't able to reach 'em without gettin' down on her hands and knees.

But truth be told, my peep has been seen crawlin' around on her hands and knees on the floors of the grocery stores MANY a time - tryin' to reach stuff way, way, way at the back of the bottom shelf without bendin' her arms in ways arms were never meant to be bent - but we sort of got that bit all sorted.

At the first grocery store, they've moved my favourite tins of cat food up a shelf.  No more hands and knees crawlin' there.  The other grocery store peeps have moved the tins up a shelf, as well, but since they almost NEVER have my favourite kind in stock, it doesn't really matter.  Can't reach for what's not there.  Well...  you can but you look really silly doin' so.  Unless, of course, you're a mime.  Mimes do that kind of thing all the time.  But if you wanna pass yourself off as mime, you have to pledge an oath of silence, dress in mime clothes and paint your face white.  Don't know if the paint is permanent or not.  Never tried it, myself.  Not gonna pledge an oath of silence, either. MOUSES!

But back to the food.

You know, you'd think that the outdoor livin' / hardware / automotive parts store would be far more interested in sellin' things for cars than for cats.  And you'd think that the grocery stores would be more interested in sellin' stuff like...  um...  well...  GROCERIES.  Am I wrong in thinkin' that?  Am I drawin' the wrong conclusions 'bout these kinds of stores and their inventories?

Something 'bout his whole business smells mighty fishy to me.  Yes, mighty fishy, indeed.  But it's not my favourite food that's smellin' fishy 'cause like I mentioned before, my favourite cat food is turkey although I do enjoy a little grilled tuna with a garnish of nip on the side.

MOUSES!  I just thought of somethin'. You all know 'bout my peep's many failed attempts at the growin' of the nip, right?

What if....  What if...  What if Peep #1 been lookin' for nip plants at all the wrong places?  What if she shouldn't be lookin' for nip plants at plant nurseries, at all?  I know that seems like the logical place but hey, I always thought the grocery store was the logical place to find groceries and I've apparently been proven wrong 'bout that.

What if the peep should be lookin' for nip plants at the outdoor livin' / hardware / automotive parts store?  Or maybe a toy store?  Or, I know...  HAIR SALONS!  Yeah, hair salons.  I'm thinkin' that hair salons probably sell nip plants, for sure.  MOUSES!

  7. I will tell you, my mom knows that awful feeling of not finding the right food. And she told me more than once that she can see that desperation or pickiness or both on the faces and hesitation of other cat servants as they troll slowly up and down the aisle over and over trying to spot what their little one would eat. Our pawrents are all SO whipped,

  8. It's great your peep finally found your food! I've never seen kitty food in outdoor living/hardware/automotive parts type store around where we live. Very nice they sell food that you like!

  9. Who cares where your food came from - you got it! As for the nip, whenever my human has bought it, it was at a pet store, like the PetCo or PetSmart chains here in the States.

  10. Sounds to us as if your favorite food is the favorite of lots of kitties where you live; thus, it sells out very quickly. Mom wishes all of us would like the same thing, but no matter what she tries that has not happened. We think an outdoor living store would be a good place to look for that nip plant or maybe the candy store. Nip is candy for cats...right? 23. Amazing that food can be found all over a store and in the strangest spots too! Like ladies shoes.....Mom was in a store the other day and apparently someone decided NOT to buy something they'd picked up in the food area of the store and put a can of cat food in a shoe on display. How weird is that anyway??? Well, I'm glad your peep found food for you all SOMEWHERE......kitties gotta eat!

    Hugs, Sammy

  24. I am very relieved your Peep found your favourite food, even if it wasn't where she expected to find it. I am getting very picky with my food and there is only one variety I will eat now and it is the half size very expensive sachets. Mum went shopping yesterday and the variety pack I like was sold out! They had 2 different types but I won't eat them. We have them out in the garage with the other 12 dozen plus sachets and tins of food I won't eat any more. She is hoping I will decide I like them again, otherwise they will be going to the shelter kitties. I have told her she has to go shopping again tomorrow to get my favourites for me.
