that's what she said

Uh-huh, uh-huh...  Yup, that's just what she said.

I know!  CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?

MOUSES!

I know, I know...  TELL me about it.  The unfairness of it all, right?

Oh, and then, get this: You know what she did, then?

SHE WENT AND SAID IT AGAIN.

MOUSES!

Yup, she said it right to his face, too.  RIGHT to his face, she did.  Didn't even bat an eyelash while doin' so, either.

I'm tellin' ya, that ol' peep of mine has it comin' to her, and...

HOLD ON TO YOUR HORSES, WOMAN.  CAN'T YOU SEE I'M TALKIN' ON THE PHONE?

Yeah, that was her, now.  Says she wants to use the phone or somethin'.  The nerve, right?  Right.  One of these days...

*click*

MOUSES, WOMAN.  WHAT DID YOU DO THAT FOR?

Lookie here, Peepers.  You've crossed a line, there, you have, hangin' up the phone like that when I was chattin' to my pal.  Why...  Why...  Why...

Oh never mind.  I'll just go blog 'bout the debacle, instead.

MOUSES!

So it's like this: Used to be in my house, a cat could go outside after supper.  Yup, IT USED TO BE that after din-dins, a cat could trot over to the door and ask to go out in the garden to play.  USED to be, I say.

But this last week or so, Peepers hasn't been allowin' us out after supper.

Can you believe it?

MOUSES!

Nope, nowadays, a cat comes in for supper and a cat is in for the rest of the night.  No more after dinner walks 'round the garden or zoomies 'round the yard.  No more outside stuff at all.  Well, not after dinner, at least.  Now...

Now, like I said, it's in for supper and in for the night.  And it's TOTALLY UNFAIR, for sure.

MOUSES!

The other night, poor Saffron scarfed down his supper and was ready to head out the door for some more playin'.  But when he asked to go back outside, Peepers - bein' the peep that she is - looked him right in the face and said "NO."  And then, just for good measure, SHE SAID IT AGAIN!

MOUSES!

The peep says the days are gettin' shorter and that's the reason why.  Oh yeah, and something 'bout Saffy not comin' in the other night when called and bein' out 'til 'bout nine, after it was gettin' dark.

BUT IT USED TO STILL BE LIGHT OUT AT NINE O'CLOCK 'ROUND HERE.

Not our fault the sun goes to bed now at eight-thirty.  Not out fault, at all.

MOUSES!

I SAY...  I say, if Peepers wants us cats to come in earlier in the evenin', she's got another think comin'.  I mean, cats are cats, right?  WE have OUR OWN schedules to keep.  WE'RE OUR OWN CATS, WE ARE.  OUT OWN CATS!

This havin' to be in before dark business is for the birds.

Quite literally.

MOUSES!

  2. You would not like it here. I refuse to let any cat go outside.

  3. Sivvers! Your peep is probably visiting her own childhood traumas on you and Saffy. If she was like us, her parents probably made her come in when the street lights came on. We bet she did not like that, but now she's going to do that to you? It ain't right. MOUSES!

  4. Yes, its getting darker earlier here, too...maybe you'll have to have an earlier dinner so you can still go out for a wee bit?

  5. Tsk tsk, shame on the peep. Rearranging the schedules without telling the schedule user is a well out of line, out of order and, well, out of everything bar outside! Mouses! Mark my words, next she'll be changing the clocks!
