we're not keepin' it

We're not keepin' it, Peepers.  WE'RE NOT KEEPIN'...

Hmm...  It?  Maybe he's a he.  Or maybe she's a she.

Who the mouses knows?

Who the mouses cares?

Well I guess another snake might care, but I'm a cat, so...

SO WE'RE NOT KEEPIN' IT.

MOUSES!

Peepers, I don't care if you found the little snake in the garden, WE'RE NOT KEEPIN' IT.

I mean, how many mice have I brought home for you in the last few weeks?

Huh?

HUH?

HOW MANY?

AND DID YOU LET ME KEEP ANY OF THEM?

Oh sure, I brought 'em to you dead, but...

But nothin'.  You didn't let me keep a single one.

MOUSES!

And mice, by the way, are way cuter than snakes.

So...

WE'RE NOT KEEPIN' IT.

MOUSES!

And did you even think to ASK me before considerin' that little green garden snake would make a nice pet?

You didn't, did you?

Of course of you didn't.  You're a peep, and peeps never think to ask.  They just make assumptions and draw conclusions, never once thinkin' about anyone else, and...

What?  What's that?  What's that you're babblin' on about now?

Oh.

So you weren't actually thinking 'bout keepin' the snake in the first place.  You weren't thinkin' he or she or it would make a good pet.

Hmmm...

Well that's totally different, then.

I suppose.

So where did you put it?  Did you put it in the woods wrapped in a paper towel like you did with all those mice I brought home?

NO?

WHY THE MOUSES NOT?

Oh.

OH, so the snake is still alive and well.  You just put him back in the garden, you say.

Like you think I should have put all those little mice back in the garden before playin' with them.

Huh.

Well you have your games, Peepers, and I have mine.

And remember, I'M a cat.

So my games are way better.

MOUSES!
