the marmalade cat

Hey ho!  Seville the Cat here with another post about gardenin'.

Okay, so I'm not actually gonna be talking about gardening today.  I'm ACTUALLY gonna be talkin' about...

Well...

ME.

That's what my pals really wanna read about, you see.

They wanna read about ME.

MOUSES!

So anyway...

So anyway, way back when...  Well sometime earlier this year, a dear and very sweet pal of mine sent some Seville Orange seeds to me, and...

What?  What's that, Peepers?  What's that you're babblin' on about now?

What do you MEAN my pal sent those seeds to you?

MOUSES!

No seriously, what do you mean?  You see Peepers, the seeds were from Seville Oranges.  Not Peepers oranges or anythin' silly like that.  SEVILLE Oranges.  OBVIOUSLY, they were sent to me, what with their bein' my namesake and all.

MOUSES!

I'm so glad you asked that, Peepers.  As a matter of fact, I DO think Seville Oranges were named after me.

YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT?

MOUSES!

Just ignore the peep.  She's havin' a rough day.  Well to tell you the truth, she's havin' a rough hair day, and it's made her all grumpy and stuff.  I have no idea why.  You'd think she'd be used to havin' ridiculous lookin' hair by now.

MOUSES!

So anyway...

So anyway, those seeds from those oranges THAT WERE NAMED AFTER ME that my dear, sweet, wonderful pal sent?  Sent to ME?  Well the peep planted 'em up when they arrived, and they started germinating shortly after that, and yesterday...

Yesterday, five of 'em got planted into little flower pots all of their own!  Yup, I watched...  I mean, supervised the peep planting 'em and everythin'.

MOUSES!

I know, I know...  I know what you're thinkin'.  You thinkin', it's not like they're catnip or anythin' like that.

But still...

But still, they're pretty much the next best thing.  I mean, how many kitties out there get to say they have five little trees named after them?  How many?  Not many at all.  In fact, I'm bettin' there is only one cat who can say that, and that one cat is ME'Cause even if there is another kitty out there with the same name as mine, that doesn't change the fact those Seville Oranges were named after THIS Seville the Cat, sitting right here.

You know, me.

What's more...

What?  What's that, Peepers?  What's that you're babbling on about now?

You think Seville Oranges might be named after some city in Spain?  Some city called...

Some city called Seville?

PEEPERS, DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS?

PEEPS IN SPAIN NAMED AN ENTIRE CITY AFTER ME.

MOUSES!

Gosh darn it, how lucky am I?  Me, a wee little Canadian marmalade kitty with both a city AND a type of orange named after me.

And now you're sayin' they named a MARMALADE after me, too?

MOUSES!

That's odd.  For some strange reason, the peep just flung her paws...  I mean, arms up in the air and walked out of the room.  I have no idea why.  Maybe she's gonna go fix her ridiculous lookin' hair.

MOUSES!

  2. But OF COURSE those oranges and that city were named in your honour, Seville! Wish we could grow oranges in Michigan, but our summer is much too short, I'm thinking...except, with global warming and such, maybe we can soon grow oranges and pineapples...and bananas, oh yeah, I want some 'nanners!

  3. Parker is so pretty they named the National Parker Service after her. Yellowstone National Parker, Acadia National Parker, .... And they named a tropical island after her sister Pretty Rico.

  5. That is so cool that a city was named for you as well as an orange tree. I think Cadillac has named a car for you too. XO

  6. Clearly you are being celebrated the world over, especially in Spain. I don't think we have any cities named after us.
