and they sighed with relief

BREAKING NEWS...

Peep #1 mowed the lawn yesterday.

And the world sighed with relief.

MOUSES!

Seriously, they did. Really.  Truly!  Honestly to goodnessly.

Okay, so goodnessly isn't really a word.  But how the mouses else was I gonna make goodness rhyme with truly?

MOUSES!

But actually...  Actually, if I'm gonna be talkin' about bein' honest.  Well...

Okay, so it wasn't the WORLD that sighed with relief.

But I'm bettin' the neighbours all did.

MOUSES!

Now you might think I'm exaggeratin' about this, but really I'm not.  The peep hadn't mowed the lawn in over two weeks, you see, so really and truly, I'm not.  Exaggeratin', that is.

And that was just the front yard.

The backyard?  HO-HO!  You don't wanna go there.

No.  Seriously.  You don't.  'Bout a week ago, some jungle explorer guy went missin' back there.

Don't worry though.  I've ordered the peep a scythe.  I'm thinkin' that might do the trick, and if it doesn't, I have my eye on a little herd of sheep.

MOUSES!

But seriously, do any of you cats out there have problems with your peeps not keepin' up with their lawn mowin' duties?  And if so, how do you get 'em back on track? Inquirin' minds wanna know.

In my case, once the grass had passed my knees, I felt the need to confront the peep.

Okay, so it wasn't so much a confrontation as uh...  Um....  BRIBERY.

Anyway, I tried gettin 'the peep to get out there and mow the lawn - if you wanna call it that, 'cause I'm not sure you CAN call it a lawn once it passes a certain height.

Anyway, I tried gettin' the peep out there by offerin' her treats.

Snooty peep.  Apparently, eatin' freeze-dried salmon treats is beneath her.

MOUSES!

So when bribery didn't work, I resorted to threats.

But APPARENTLY, my threatenin' the peep to no longer assist her with her knittin', isn't really a threat.

MOUSES!

But eventually, after the ineffective attempts with bribes and threats, the peep did finally see the light.

That's right, she managed to push aside the taller than tall grass out there, and a little sunlight was able to find its way through.  That would be 'bout the time she was finally able to see that light.

So yesterday afternoon, out Peep #1 went, lawn mower in tow.

Well she was pushin' it, not pullin' it, so it wasn't really in tow, but you get the picture, I am sure.

And now...  Now have an actual lawn!  That's right.  An actual lawn in the front yard.  You know, a lawn, as opposed to some kind of grassy maze or cornfield.

Too bad 'bout that explorer guy in the backyard though.  As far as I know, he's still out there.  Yeah, still out there, attemptin' to find his way out.

MOUSES!

Peep #1 says she'll tackle the backyard over the weekend.  I wish he luck with that, 'cause from the looks of things, it just might tackle her back.

MOUSES!

  2. Sheesh, we had the same problem here Seville! Though thankfully we oly have a backyard and no explorer man has yet to go missing.

We got her motivated this evening though....we promised her a cold beer if she got it done. AND she did, and we did and all is good here now. Except the edging...that still needs to be done.

Good luck with the back yard kitties

Pee Ess: Our front yard is zeroscape! It helps.

  3. Hmm, what you needs is some Alpaca. They eat loads and make great guards too, should you have a breach in the main defences or happen not to have a moat. Fear not about that explorer, from what I've heard, like the mammoths, they get preserved come winter. MOL

  4. Don't you prefer it all jungle-like, Seville? It seems like it would be more fun that way.

  5. MOL! My momma mowed today too - some old guy told her she shouldn't be doing that, her husband should. She said if he knew any cute rich single guys who wanted to come mow her parents' yard dat she might be interested. MOL!

  6. I'm afraid I have to disagree with you. I prefer the grass longer with the wild flowers growing amongst it, and it does show off gingery handsomeness so well. Flynn liked to lie in it on hot days when it was long. Ivor on the other hand prefers to mow it down to within an inch of bare earth! I may have to sabotage the lawn mower.

  7. Oh yeah, it's so hard to get our mom out there here too.

  8. You look fresh as a daisy lounging in the newly trimmed grasses, Seville! What does it feel like to walk on grasses? I think the explorer guy might be in the backyard er forest at my house, too. Mom didn't go out & mow like she said she was going to do the other day & then it rained. The grass then grew even taller! Oh well, maybe the D-O-G will get lost in it. Tee hee hee!

  11. My cats don't go out, but I am glad my hubby mowed the lawn. It was raining a lot so he never got a chance to mow and the rain made it grow faster.

  12. My Mom is the mower in our family - she loves riding on "her" lawn tractor and has the mowing down to a fine science after 20 years of doing it. It used to take her two hours and now it takes her 20 minutes! HAHAHA

  13. But with taller grass, you're better able to hide and pounce on your siblings! You know, you could remind her to cut the grass by hiding in it and pouncing on HER. Like how Bear Cat reminds me to clip his claws by skewering my with them ;)

  14. We would love to go out and roll in the grass, it must be so much fun. BUT... if we had to wait for our mom to mow it, then THAT would be a problem for sure.

  15. It looks like you are living in the jungle, MOL ! It happens here too, but rarely : Momo is the mower-in-chief and takes his job seriously (to be true, it's harder when it's high, and we can enjoy some HBO words in this case). Purrs

  16. Seville, dude, mew had us MOL-ing so much at this: Bout a week ago, some jungle explorer guy went missin' back there. Poor guy, put the sprinkler on case he needs some water! MOL

We don't have any lawn mowing issues here, the only issue we do have is the ants, but the P.A. got some of these special bugs [we're a chemical free garden] to put on their nest last week, so we're hoping that the ants pack up and move asap, like next door and stay there fureffur! MOL

    Big hugs
