stop the presses!

STOP THE PRESSES!  We interrupt today's previously scheduled post to bring you the latest information regarding the far-reachin' bloggin' prowess of Nerissa the Cat.

This just in...  I, Nerissa the Cat, have helped to make the world a better place.

Remember how Ol' Peepers was havin' trouble reachin' my favourite tins of food at the grocery store?  They were always way down on the bottom shelf and more often than not, there weren't that many tins left so they were way back at the back of the bottom shelf and out of reach.  In order to get to the tins of Turkey and Giblets, Peep #1 had to get down on her hands and knees and crawl around on the grocery store floor like a baby peep, reachin' way, way back to the back of that ol' bottom shelf.  MOUSES!

I remember one day in particular when Peep #1 came home all grumpy and whatnot on account of the floor in the cat food aisle bein' not overly clean as she herself had muddied it all up with her wet boots.  She came home grumpy as all get out.  She practically out-grumped Grumpy Cat!  What's more, she couldn't get enough tins of my favourite food 'cause she didn't want to crawl around on the wet floor.

Personally, I think that if anyone had grumpy rights in this situation it was me and not the peep.  Her lack of crawlin' around on the floor skills was interfering with the stockin' up of my favourite food.  So, of course, I blogged all about it.  What else would a cat like me do?

I called that tell-all post, "next time, I'll go myself" and that's just what I was prepared to do.  But I guess the peeps runnin' the grocery store took note of my impendin' arrival which really wasn't all that impendin' as I wrote that post way back in January and then sorta got a little distracted with floods and politics and helpin' the Easter Bunny and whatnot.

Anywho...  the thought of the kitty contingent arrivin' on their doorstep must have put the fear of  God into the grocery store peeps because some pretty big changes have happened at my peeps' favourite grocery store.  And that's what one calls, KITTY POWER!

BREAKING NEWS...  My favourite tinned food is no longer stored on the bottom shelf.  Yoo-hoo! YOO-HOO!  That's right.  In the last week or two, the Turkey and Giblets have been moved up from the bottom shelf to the second lowest shelf but let me tell you, that one shelf of a difference is HUGE.  Peep #1 has no trouble reachin' the tins now, even when they're at the back of the shelf. Crazy how much of a difference one shelf makes, huh?

I'm told that the bottom shelf now holds boxes of smaller tins.  Peeps can very easily reach down and grab a box or two from that shelf without havin' to crawl around on the floor like kittens. MOUSES!

And there's more!  Not only are the tins of my favourite soft food now more easily accessible but there's also more of 'em.  That's right.  Each time the peep has gone in to get our food since this recent change was made, there were plenty of tins.  Well, they weren't so plentiful after she was shoppin' but they were well-stocked when she arrived which means my fur-family and I will not be goin' hungry any time soon.  Whew!  Sometimes I worried about that when the peep couldn't get the food we wanted her to get on account of the shelves at the grocery store bein' bare.

The change in location of my favourite food and the improved stocking methods of said food have resulted in my havin' a much more cheerful peep.  It's a good thing, for sure.

But I have even more grocery store news.  Remember that yummy food that I reviewed for my pal Basil?  You know...  Harringtons - The Natural Choice Pet Food?  It was healthy and tasty, came in two delicious varieties and all in all, simply great stuff.  I blogged all about in, "they were delish!"  Did that post a little over a month ago now, I do believe.

Anywho...  When I did my review, the peep could only find this delicious food at one store and it was not the grocery store.  MOUSES!  But I bet you'll never guess what has happened.  Within the last couple of weeks, Harringtons has now become available at the grocery store, too.  The peeps came home one day with a couple bags of the stuff and told me the good news.  So exciting.   SO exciting.

Do you think the availability of Harringtons at the grocery store is due to my review of the product? Could it be?  COULD IT BE?  POWER TO THE KITTIES! I say.  POWER TO THE KITTIES!!!

And now for the grocery store trifecta.  Okay, the tri part of the trifecta has not yet happened but I'm workin' on it.

What I'd really like to see is a little more nip bein' sold at the grocery store.  And not just that dried up stuff they sell in the pet food aisle, either.  We cats would like to see some fresh nip in the produce section.  You know...  bein' sold alongside the lettuce and parsley and whatnot.  Now that would somethin', don't you think?  Fresh bunches of nip available daily.

And while we're at it, some nip plants over in the floral department might be a nice touch.  Passin' peeps could pick up a pot or two while doin' their shoppin'.  Nothin' like bringin' home your cats a pot of nip.  And what about grass?  Cat grass is available on and off durin' the year but really, it should be available all the time.  Cats like their grass, year-round.  Not every cat has access to a lawn, you know.

Hmmm...  I wonder if there are any other improvements the grocery store peeps could make.  I'll think upon it and after I've given it a good thunk, I think I'll give 'em a call.

The bottom line is, we kitties have power and finally, peeps are takin' note.  Today the grocery store...  TOMORROW THE WORLD!!!   BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
