Well I must admit, you do have a valid point there, Peepers. But you know, you're forgettin' one little thing. You're forgettin', I'm a cat. Cats are indifferent by nature.
MOUSES!
What? What's that, Peepers? What's that you're goin' on about, now?
Do I really need to explain the meanin' of indifference to you?
MOUSES!
Now....
Now what was it I bein' indifferent to?
Hmmm....
Now that's interesting. I appear to be indifferent to my own indifference.
Or maybe it's just a memory thing.
Nah, that can't be it. I have an excellent memory, for sure. I, Seville the Cat, can remember every transgression my fur-sibs have ever committed. I can remember every transgression of the peeps', too. Along with every annoyin' little habit.
Why, I can remember...
Hmmm...
What was I talkin' about, again?
It's probably just an attention span thing.
Oohhh... LOOK! A fly.
MOUSES!
Peepers, there's a fly buzzing around in my office. You think you could do something 'bout that?
Now where was I?
Oh yeah.
The thing is, what is important to peeps is not necessarily equally important to cats. In fact, it might not be important to cats at all. Not even in the least. Quite frankly, most things aren't.
It's not that we don't care.
Well actually, it is. Yeah, it is that we don't care. We don't care 'bout half the stuff you peeps care about. We cats only care 'bout things pertaining to cats.
Pretty much.
Most of the time.
You know how it is.
We cats care 'bout our dinners bein' served when they're supposed to be served. We cats care about our toys bein' kept safe. We cats care 'bout nip, of course. That goes without sayin'. And we care 'bout other things, too. As long as those things pertain to cats.
What we DON'T care about are the run-of-the-mill, mundane, stupid little things peeps are always goin' on about. You know, like the uh... Like the run-of-the-mill, mundane, stupid little things peeps like to discuss.
So what I'm sayin' it this:
Basically, when we're not payin' attention to you, Peepers, it's not that we're not listenin' ON PURPOSE, or anythin' like that. I mean, we don't decide to not listen. It's more like we simply can't be bothered to. To listen, I mean. Why would we even consider deigning to listen to you go on about things that are important only to peeps? Why?
And when we don't do as you ask, Peepers, it's not like we forgot ON PURPOSE, what it was you asked us to do. I mean, we don't go out of our way to forget. It's more like we simply can't be bothered to remember. Why would we even try to remember all those things, about which remembering, is only important to peeps? Why?
Well...
Ummm....
Oohhh... LOOK! A fly.
MOUSES!
